At the risk of inciting a riot, I actually found the whole dating/snogging/hormone thing rather hilarous. Probably because it reminded me a lot of high school. :P

I liked it too!!! It was just so unexpected...but realistic!!  And actually, if we are supposed to believe this love story of James/Lily, and whatever type of love Severus had for Lily, and all the jealousy involved (both ways?) then it makes sense to mirror it in the current young generation.

But HBP is over so I wouldn't mind a change of pace and less focus on romance for the last book (except for Ron and Hermione finally kissing of course).

Here are my ten demands:
1.   Snape must be redeemed.  He s working on the side of the Order.  This must be shown unequivocally.
2.   Somebody that Harry trusts to betray him and make Harry question his decisions.  Lots of hurdles for Harry to overcome: physical and emotional!  I know I am EVIL!!
3.   Snape’s backstory: why became DE, Lily, why remorseful, werewolf incident.  As much as possible!
4.   Question of House system.  Slytherins shown not to be all evil.  An eleven year old can be viewed as such just because the Sorting Hat says he or she belongs in that House.  I believe that the story needs a strong good Slytherin.  Who could that be, I wonder.  Honestly though I would like Draco to redeem himself too.  Likewise the other Houses must be seen as also contributing to Dark Magic.
5.   Harry and Snape to live! And Snape for Headmaster at the end!!!
6.   Voldemort and Bellatrix: Those two monsters have to get what is coming to them. Lucius Malfoy too must meet as he put it “a sticky end”.
7.   A massive Harry-Snape altercation with lots of revelations…  And an apology.
8.   An important role for Luna.  I just love that girl.  I love her to hook up with Harry but like that is going to happen.
9.   Hermione and Ron just to get it together and put us out of our misery.  Harry and Ginny to get back together but only once they have matured.  Not too fond of Ginny but her and Harry are meant to be together.
10.   Harry needing lots of help as I will be very annoyed if Harry suddenly becomes Superman.  Sure he is brave but he is just not good enough or experienced enough to destroy the Horcruxes on his own.

I agree with much that has been said here already about Lupin growing a spine, the Marauder's clearly taken down from their piedestal of 'coolness', Lily at snogging party with Severus, the House elves rebelling, Neville and Luna getting more spotlight (but not necessarily getting together)  and a whole sea of BACKSTORY.
I actually don't wish to see many more deaths, apart from Voldemort's. It would be amusing, though, to see Bella becoming a case for St Mungo's, closed ward. But as that place is already taken by Lockhart...  :P

Anyway, and apart from that, here's my list of wishes:

1.   Let Harry persuade Voldemort to choose death voluntarily

2.   If 1. is not possible - let Voldemort die as a consequence of his own aspiration for immortality

3.   Make Snape Headmaster of Hogwarts – against all odds and all possible criticism!

4.   Make Harry apologize to Snape and forgive him for revealing the Prophecy to Voldie

5.   Show us exactly why Severus was nicknamed ‘Snivellus’ and why he chose to join the Death Eaters (and I agree with Hwyla that the reason shouldn’t be just that Lily married James...)

6.   Show us exactly why Lily chose to marry James

7.   If all the Houses can’t unite – abolish the whole system of sorting and the House sysem at Hogwarts. I really find it disturbing.

8.   Make sure Dementors are ‘defeated’ and reduced to an endangered magical species

9.   Make Harry and Draco accept each other and work together against Voldemort

10. Explain why Aberforth is associated with goats…  Wink

Wow, reading through this topic has been a joy.  There isn't really more for me to add to everyone's wonderful lists so here are just a couple of my thoughts:

1) I would love to see it revealed that part of Dumbledore's trust in Snape lies in his own personal history.  I believe Dumbledore was very much like Snape as a young man and he saw himself in the young Slytherin.

2) Given #1 I'd love to see it revealed that DD was really a Slytherin rather than the Gryffindor everyone believes him to be.

Whatever happens I want to Snape alive at the end of DH.  I know this fandom's fanfiction writers can correct any poor decision JKR makes.

Thanks for such a great topic!

Hi ElfWine!  wave GREAT name!  Grin

I see you're 'on the express' so 'Welcome to HPN'! Hope to see you on some of the other threads.

I rather like your idea about Albus having had his own 'dark time'. Fits with the Dante thread I think, tho' I'm not sure it has been specifically discussed. Just basing it on Dante's apparent belief that someone who was never tempted to 'sin' was never 'tested' and so could not really know WHAT they would have done IF tested. One can't KNOW one is truly 'good' until one has resisted the temptation. But FIRST there must be a temptation.

See you around! There are loads of great threads - have fun!

Elf Wine, check out the Snape's Harbor Beach Party thread to introduce yourself! Grin And I love your avatar! That picture is one of my favorite Snape fanarts. Makani's fanart is really nice, I love her Snape widget for Leaky. Cool

Thanks for the wonderful welcome, hwyla!  I had no idea about the Dante connection until you mentioned it.  I'll have to check out that thread.  Azn

I'm looking forward to finding my way around here.

Beach party?!  Sounds like fun!   Cool  I love this artist's work as well.  Young Snape just looks so angsty here that I just couldn't resist it as an avatar.

Off to introduce myself ...

7) Crookshanks making a visit to the Veil, where he will not be able to make up his mind if he wants "in" or "out". He should go back and forth several times though it (well, he does have nine lives) and drive the humans mad, ha ha.

Rolling Smiley Rolling Smiley Rolling Smiley

10) Harry must finally come to understand the real reason Sirius met an unhappy end: he was too dog-like. This should be the moral of the series: doggy people are no good, and they come to horrible premature deaths.

Rolling Smiley Oh no I would not dare suggest that!  Everyone knows how clever cats are.  Although *cough* rubbing ears as good as imperius *cough*  :P  Only joking Socrates.  Your servant would never try that!  Evil  Anyway PotionStudent it is not that it is unusual for a cat to surf the web but some confused members might have though it was a human with a tail and a rather unhealthy obsession with cats.  Evil

Socrates, I protest. I'm one of those "doggy-people" (my Chinese zodiac sign is Dog).  Angry  Rolling Smiley

Anyway.  Theater

Iwant The Trio, Ginny, Draco, and Snape to live. (like many people haven't mentioned this already)

I want a chance for Draco to redeem. (Hmm... if you know my past signatures, you;ll know why)

I want to see some goblin and house-elf radical movements. (something that shock the economy)

I want to see a backstory about the Four Founders. (what did exactly happen that tear them apart?)

I want Luna and Neville to kick some a** again.  (Oddballs rawk! I mean, I'm one.)

I want another chaos in the wizarding politics. (Come on, with people like Fudge and Scrimgeour and Percy Weasley, you think they'd dump their personal ambitions?)

I want Pettigrew to die and not find salvation. (Great. I'm horribly unjust.  :P)

I want some Lily & Petunia backstory (anything behind their disagreements)

I want to know if RAB exists, or if he's really who most of us think. (I was so immersed in Sirius and Regulus fics. I wrote one myself, that I've discarded).

I want Voldemort dies in pain. (I thought he wasn't evil when young, but now I know he's been another Omen from the very start.)

Nice list, Soctrates!

Where is Et tu?  Folks, I'm seriously worried her pet... er, master is holding her captive and we see now he's even cut her off the internet so she can't ask for help!

He was fragile and sometimes I liked that

Hey, I've got a demand of Monkshood:  How about we all realize that Severus Snape is actually Severus Snape and not Alan Rickman.  You  think JK Rowling is going to be too scared to tell Grandpre that she's way off on drawing Snape?

Archangel:  I'd like you to post the sections which describe 1) Snape's balding pattern on the top of his head and 2) his mustache and goatee, both of which appear in the chapter illustrations for chapter 14 of PoA and chapter 24 of OOTP.  I'm interested to know how Harry misses these details when he describes Snape to us.  I think it is difficult to have long curtains of greasy hair when one is balding at the top.  I would then like you to find where in HBP Harry tells us about Snape's apparent hair transplants based on the illustration of him in chapter 28.  Not only are the illustrations inaccurate based on what the author wrote, but they are also inconsistent.  That's why I have a problem with them.

P.S.  Rowling asked for Rickman to be cast as Snape in the movies.   Cheesy
